Can I bring wine back to US from Italy if I am traveling through London (Gatwick)?
I have 3 regular size bottles of wine, 2 small bottles of wine and 2 very small (airplane size) bottles of Lemoncello I want to bring back to the US. I am taking a flight from Rome Ciampino to London Gatwick, and then a flight from Gatwick to JFK in New York. Will I have a problem with this? If there is a duty, how much should I expect to pay? Any answers will be appreciated. Thanks!
Italy is in the EU, you are allowed to bring 90 litres of wine, 10 litres of spirits, 20 litres of fortified wine (such as port or sherry) to the UK from most EU states, Italy included.

Don't forget the ban on liquids in hand luggage, you will have to put these bottles in your checked luggage. The limits for liquids in hand luggage are no bottle more than 100 ml, and no more than 1 litre in total.
You will most likely have to pay customs in the US. You only allowed 1 litre without duty. These are the rates the US Customs site quotes: "DUTY AND TAX RATES SAMPLES (Approximate):
Beer - 16 cents per liter
Still Wine - 36 cents per liter
80 Proof Scotch - $2.89 per liter"
Of course you must be 21 or older to bring it into the US as well.
