Are these wines still good?
I have 3 bottles of wine which have been stored standing up in a low kitchen cabinet which is predominately always dark. These are : Ernest & Julio Twin Valley Cafe Chardonnay, a no. on the bottle is L0718010, also Lindemans, Bin65, South East Australia 2006. These wines have been sealed since I got them. Previously opened and corked is Turning Leaf Calif. Merlot 1997. How do I tell if they would still be good to drink? Any help would be appreciated.
There is only one way to know. Taste them. The Lindemans has the best chance of being good. It was the only one of the three that I would consider as being good in the first place (no offense intended, that is just an honost opinion) As long as the temperature in the cabinet has been stable and under 65 degrees F., they should be no worse than when you put them away. As an aside, wine in bottles with corks shuold be stored on their side. This keeps the cork from drying out, shrinking, ans letting in air, which destroys the wine.
