I quit drinking, now I want to be able to have a beer once in a while...hubby says no...?

Is he being unreasonable or does he have a point? I quit on my own accord (him too, at my request). I was not an alcoholic, quit cold turkey, and haven't drank for 2 years. I just didn't like where I was at the time and didn't want to abuse alcohol. I am a different person now and feel I can handle it. I am out of the stressful job that I had at the time that caused me to overdrink at times. I miss having a beer, glass of wine, or a margarita once in a while with dinner or at a party.

My husband disagrees and thinks I should just stay quit. I don't have to drink, but I like the taste of a lot of beers, etc.
When they make a German NA dark beer or a NA Guiness (not Kaliber...yuck), then maybe I'd drink it.
I just appreciate others' insights. My husband is a good guy, but insanely stubborn.

Congratulations on quitting -- sounds like doing so was very good for both of you. After careful consideration, I think you would be better off not to start drinking again. I am all about playing it safe, and the safest course for you is to continue to do what you're doing. To change course now might pose some risks.

That said, it is awfully hard to tell you that you shouldn't have a beer or a cocktail once in awhile -- they can be quite tasty!

So, do what you want. As I said, it might be best not to drink. However, if you do, keep the attitude you have now, which is just one every once in awhile, and I think you'll probably be fine.

Later edit: Upon consideration, this has to be the most middle of the road answer I have ever given. Sorry!
