It is true that not many chateau in Bordeaux actually welcome people for wine testing. Got to be lucky or to know some local people.
I however know a few good places in Paris to go to (O-Chateau for instance).
You should also try the “Salon des Vignerons Indépendants” which takes place twice a year and where you can test a lot of wines (good times!).
Tips for Bordeaux bottle: always buy one that is “mis en bouteille au chateau”. It means grape has been grown, picked up and embotled there.

I’m in Paris – I’ll throw in $10 for a wine tasting thing.
@MiChmski this take place between 18 and 19 june (and the good name is fête du fleuve, i made a mistake, sorry) but this “fête” alternate between wine and boats every year…so this year it is about boat (but this is bordeaux so there is wine anyway). But in 2012 if you’re still in France, it will be the real fête du vin, and during one week you can taste a loooooot of wines ! google it if you need more info.

I moved to Bordeaux a year ago and I have the exact same problem. It’s even worse: most of the time wine is more expensive here than in Paris or Belgium.
Even McDo didn’t have wine. …wtf, bordeaux?
Bordeau wine is like Mont St Michel: too famous for its own good… You’ll find more authenticity in lesser traveled Routes des Vins, and I can see you already have received many invitations in previous comments! PS: obviously your are aware that you are supposed to spit the wine you taste, not drink it! PPS: Loved the Blair Witch tribute

you should go back to Bordeaux during the “Fête de la rivière” and I can assure you that you may be drunk, after a day tasting (getting drunk) wines and eating some south west specialities along the river ! it’s an awesome party in Bordeaux

The problem with the wine in france is common to us… The place for free wine is Germany !! “Freie Wein Phrobe” niiiiice You can drink so much wine if you want until you have enough and buy enough (ridiculously cheap!!!) Check “Mosel”
In this region you find what you need!
Passe en Suisse une fois, on est surement très intéressant à observer aussi :p et on a d’excellentes caves ou tu pourra déguster plein de bons vins :p
